Fanny was
born in Tyrone, Ireland. She came from a rich family. Being the youngest
sister, she did not have a good close relationship with her sisters. When she
was twelve, her sister got married. being there at the event all the people
were happy. But the lady was not because she did not want to be alone with her
parents. Especially because she knew that her parents did not want her.
Later, her
sister became ill. Wanting to stay with her family in Tyrone, she needed to
travel with her husband. At the day they supposed to arrive, Fanny was waiting.
something was heard from outside at midnight. She was thinking it could be her
sister. So, she and her father went out looking for her sister. having seen nothing,
they were still waiting. Minutes later they heard a noise that made them
afraid. Next day, somebody arrive with news, her sister had died at the same
time they heard the noise. In spite of the fact that she was traumatized, for
the next two years she had no desire to talk or to do anything.
Moreover, her
mother began to introduce her to prospective candidates to be her husband. At
the beginning she felt good. She used to talk to them, she started to live and
laugh and she didn’t think about her sister all the time. But later, her mother
talked about this man, Lord Glenfallen. Fanny was not interested; he was an
ugly and old man. However, she discovers that Lord Glenfallen was a really nice
man and was always interesting. So, she decided to marry him.
Next spring,
they got married and three days later they moved to Cahergillagh, the house was
so beautiful and Fanny was really happy. Being there Fanny met Marta, Marta
cooks, cleans and known more than anything about the house. Once she knows
Marta, they went to looking for Fanny’s bedroom. At the moment fanny enters
into the room, she felt something strange, she felt cold and fear. Later she saw
something similar to an old black coat, but nobody was inside. She told that to
Martha, then, Marta’s face change and said that something bad was going to
happen.
On top of that, next day her husband told her
something that sounds really important, he told her that she should never go
into the rooms at the back of the house. As a consequence, Fanny decided to
forget his words and she tried to be as happy as she was before.
However, one month later she met a woman who
was in her bedroom, she had her eyes white, she was blind. Fanny was thinking
that the woman was probably lost. But she was not, actually, she calls herself
the real Lady Glenfallen. Then the woman cried and hit Fanny’s face.
Fanny ran out the room looking for help, but there
was nobody. Once her husband arrived, she asked him who was that woman, but he
did not answer. After that her husband began behaving in a different way, he
was always quiet, sad and scare.
Days later, her husband came up with an idea.
He said that they must go away to another country, specifically, to France or
Spain. Fanny didn’t understand why they must leave their house and why did they
have to go so far away. This night she suddenly woke up, someone was in the
bedroom looking at her. It was the blind woman.
The blind woman asked her if Lord Glenfallen married
her, to which Fanny answered yes. Lord Glendfallen already had a wife; it was
confessed by the blind woman. And it was her, the blind woman. She told to
fanny she must leave the house if she wanted to live.
When the sun rose Fanny asked to her husband
who is the blind woman. She confessed that the blind woman, told her that she
was his wife.
Her husband got angry because he thought Fanny
went into the rooms at the back of the house. But she didn’t. her husband’s
face was white and at the same time he didn’t want to talk. Long time later he
said that she was not his wife, she didn’t know what she was saying.
Fanny wen out looking for Martha in order to
get some information. Martha told her that the blind woman was married to her
husband and she was de Lady Glenfallen. Once she was in her bedroom just in the
back of the house. it was said that someone saw her husband with a knife in his
hand. But nobody knows what really happened. When the people found her, the
knife was there on the floor next to her slit eyes.
Fanny decided to leave de house because she was
really afraid, she sees Martha off, and went back to Tyrone. Sometimes her dead
sister visited her at nights and told her that the blind woman is still trying
to find her.
It is believed that Lord Glenfallen did not love his wife anymore because she was too jealous, even with the women of the servants, one day he reached his limit of frustration, he went mad and killed his wife, he cut her eyes thinking that somehow he would get rid of her, but it was not so. Over the years she kept appearing in the house tormenting him, reminding him of what had happened.
